Feature Highlights

The V2 version of the SingleDoseBrew X54 Single Doser features a built-in gate system that optimizes grind consistency by ensuring the grinder reaches its maximum speed and torque, before the beans are dropped in.

A simple lift of the doser opens the inner gate allowing beans to flow in to the grind chamber. A second internal chamber allows all the beans to drop in nearly instantaneously, after which a narrow channel guides beans into the grind chamber to gradually allow a limited number of beans to allow every bean to be ground evenly and prevent overcrowding.

The V2 also features a new double seal inner funnel which prevents stray grounds from leaking out of the grind chamber into gaps between the upper burr and the chassis. This also ensures the maximum air pressure through the new air jet slots, which pushes air through thin slotted openings, enhancing the blowing pressure from the bellows.

These thin slotted openings also prevent back pressure where ground fines go backwards into the main bellow chamber and also reduce pop-corning for the last few beans that would be ground.

Safety is also ensured with the locking ring that includes a push switch which is only activated when the upper single dosing mechanism is fully screwed in. This prevents stray fingers from ever reaching the grind chamber. In the V2, the push switch has been further improved to prevent it from falling out during installation.

Performance Test

The test was conducted by grinding 10 grams of beans one after another over 3 rounds, with and without the Single Doser and Bellow. The test shows wildly varying grind weight results without the single doser because of the amount of grind retention as well as old grinds being dislodged into the portafilter. The Single Doser and Bellow reduces this retention, so there would not be much left over to be dislodged or reduced between grinds, ensuring a much more consistent grind weight between grinds.
